The Simmons clan: Josh, Kate & the kids
Josh & Kate both were both born and raised in suburban/city settings, but have long dreamed of moving to the country and starting a sustainable homestead.
We believe that sustainable farming practices are not only essential for the health of our land and products, but that it creates better quality crops and animals resulting in better food for us and our communities.
We do not put much stock in labels like "organic, "cage-free" or "free-range." These are government-sponsored designations that allow for a lot of wiggle room.
We believe in pasturing our animals and caring for their well-being. We believe in growing crops without pesticides or herbicides, and utilizing our land and animals to create compost for healthy, nutrient-rich soil.

In the Bible, in the book of 1 Kings 17:2-4, the prophet Elijah is directed to proclaim a drought in the land of Israel as a call to repentance. Fleeing for his life, God directs him to the Kerith Ravine. There he is provided with water from the brook and also meat and bread by ravens at God's direction.
We are Christians, and we firmly believe that God has brought us to this place. It is God alone who gives us the ability to care for this land, and Who will bring forth our crops in their seasons and bring abundance from our flocks and herds.
We are Kerith Acres because it is the Lord who will provide for us here.
